Policing in Selby
Selby District seeks to achieve a
meaningful partnership that aims to reduce crime and the
fear of crime, promote community safety and improve the
quality of life of the community that it serves.
They aim to do this by moving towards
an integrated partnership based on identified and shared
responsibilities. This will be achieved by working
arrangements that encompass co-terminus locations and
practices where possible within the partnership.
They will seek to provide identifiable
neighbourhood policing teams making full use of all
police and non-police agencies both from the public and
voluntary sector.
Such resources will be dedicated to
the role of community policing maintaining regular
contact within a sustainable team that will allow trust
and confidence within the communities they serve.
They will ensure a visible and
accessible core of responses that enable the public to
become involved and take shared responsibility for the
neighbourhoods in which they live and work.
An established Community Safety Team
led by a sergeant will provide the integral link to the
community, equally providing professional advice and to
progress long term problem solving initiatives.
